Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cake

Almond flour baking can be tricky but this delicious almond flour recipe is well worth the effort. It’s the perfect treat for a special occasion or just to satisfy your sweet tooth.

The almond flour cake is so easy to make and it tastes amazing! The texture of the cake is light and fluffy and the chocolate chips add a little something extra. This really is one of our favorite cakes using almond flour!

Almond flour vs almond meal

Almond flour and almond meal are both made from ground almonds. The difference between the two is that almond meal has a more coarse texture while almond flour is finer.

This recipe calls for almond flour which will give you the best results. You can usually find it in the baking aisle of your grocery store or you can buy it online here.

I recommend this brand of almond flour for baking.

Is this gluten-free?

Yes, almond flour is gluten-free. If you prepare this as written, the recipe will be both gluten-free and keto. It is not paleo since it uses heavy whipping cream and melted butter.

What is the carb count?

This has 4 net carbs per serving.

Best keto chocolate chips

If you need to keep this almond flour cake keto-friendly, make sure to find the right chocolate chips. We recommend using Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips which have no added sugar. They taste amazing and they melt perfectly in the batter!

You can find these chocolate chips on Amazon if you cannot find them in your grocery store. If you can’t find them, you can try another brand of sugar-free chocolate chips.

How to store almond flour cake

This cake can be stored in the fridge or at room temperature. It will last for up to 3 days if stored properly. I recommend wrapping it with plastic wrap first and then storing it in an airtight container.

Serving suggestions:

This almond flour cake is perfect on its own but you can also top it with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream if you like. You can make keto whipped cream by leaving out the sugar and using vanilla extract.

Of course, to keep it keto-friendly, you will need to find keto options. We really like Halo Top ice cream which is generally considered acceptable for low carb diets.

To keep it a bit healthier, you can top it with plain yogurt. I love Greek yogurt sweetened with a tiny bit of vanilla extract.

If you are not following the keto diet, you can add vanilla ice cream, powdered sugar, or sweetened whipped cream.

Can I use a different sweetener?

To keep this keto, the recipe uses Swerve confectioners sugar substitute. If you want to experiment with another type of sweetener or different sugar substitutes you certainly can but I do not know how it will turn out.

You can get Swerve sweetener right here.

Kitchen tools needed

You can use a food processor if you want to. But, it’s not necessary. This mixes up easily in one bowl.
